Past Rides

You know, it's easy to look back and think "Man, why did I ever get rid of that?"  here's a few of those things.

1973 Mach 1

This was my first car ever.  It was bought for me by my dad for my 16th Birthday.  It was then powered by a stock 351 Cleveland.  I drove the car to school and to work, where I made a whopping $3.35 an hour stocking shelves at the local grocery store.  It was a year and a half later that I removed the 351 for a major rebuild.  An Edelbrock Performer manifold, re-jetted Holley 600 cfm, forged TRW pistons, Wolverine cam at 294* total duration, valve job, port and polish, HV oil pump, and Hooker Super-Comp headers were added before putting the 351C back in.  The car was a blast to drive, and despite what I put it through, I never had a problem with it.

20th Anniversary 1984 Mustang GT Turbo

This was the first car I financed at the age of 18.  The car bought at an estate auction off of a school teacher and was in pristine shape.  I had both the Mach and the GT at the same time, and had them for awhile before moving from Florida to Ohio.  One of the cars had to go, so my dad ended up with the GT Turbo.  He drove the car for years and logged well over 200,000 miles on it before selling it.  Both the engine and turbo was rebuilt during that time.  It was a fun car, handled great, and it ran pretty good- real good in the upper RPM range.  It was a totally different car from the Mach 1- all the creature comforts, a more subtle ride, and great on gas...or at least alot better than the Mach 1.

1983 Mustang GT

This car was bought after moving back to Ohio.  It had a built 302 in it, T-tops, and a 5 speed.  The car ran good, but eventually started smoking real bad from the left tail pipe.  The engine was removed, and we found that the piston rings in the #8 cylinder was toast.  I later found holes drilled in the hatchback area where a nitrous bottle had been mounted.  The 302 was mildly rebuilt, and eventually traded for an Allison R-15 splash speedboat.

the 83 and 84 together
This one, and the pic above are the only two pics I have of both the 83 and 84 GT's together.
650 Honda Nighthawk

I do not have any pics of my first bike- a Kawasaki GPz 550, but heres my Nighthawk.  I happened upon it and could not refuse it.  It was an immaculate bike.  The only thing wrong was there was a very small dent in the gas tank from the bracket that held a plexiglass fairing on it.  It was snowing of all things the day I drove it home.  By the time I got home, I could not feel my fingers from the 27 degree weather.  Once I thawed out a bit, the first thing I did was rip that ugly ass fairing off and throw it in the trash.  The fairing was off before the bike was totally cooled down.  LOL  We lived in an apartment at the time, and it was too cold to go outside and clean up my "new" bike.  I removed the mirrors, and pulled it in the living room on a tarp and started taking the seat, body panels, etc. off.  Should have seen the look on my now fiance's face when she came home.  It's been 7 years ago, and I still hear about it.  Women just don't understand!

1993 Probe GT, #2
My third Probe, my second GT, and first with the 5 speed manual transmission.  I had it for three years, and decided to get something a little newer.  The Probe GT is a great car, and one that will me missed, but it's just a car.  It was my daily driver, and was alot of fun to drive.  I sold it recently, and replaced it with a Hyundai Tiburon SE.
2006 Mustang GT
Well, after having the Mustang for 2 years, I decided to sell it so I could get back on the Cobra.  I thought about it for some time, and decided to go ahead and do just that.  I ended up having it for two and a half years, and put just under 3,000 miles on it during that time.  I didn't want to see it go, but the thought of getting back on the Cobra was enough to convince me.  I put it up for sale, had a few calls about it, and the first person that came to look at it, bought it two days later.
